Summer Resident Camp

Camp John Mensinger

Camp John Mensinger (CJM) is located in the Stanislaus National Forest at an elevation of approximately 4,800 feet. The 168 acre camp was deeded to the Yosemite Area Council (now Greater Yosemite Council) in 1969 by the Pickering Lumber Corporation and included the facilities of its Soap Creek Logging Camp. In 1976, Camp Mensinger opened for Scout camping with new and modern facilities. The camp is rich in logging history. The Camp is in an ideal location for high adventure. Camp John Mensinger is the perfect setting for your Boy Scouts to have a great Scouting experience. Camp Mensinger offers a diverse range of camp programs.

Provisional Camping

Provisional Camping is for Boy Scouts who are unable to attend the regular Summer Camp week with their own Troop, or those who wish to attend a different or extra week of Summer Camp. Provisional Camping is available each week at Camp John Mensinger. Scouts will select the Week(s) to attend and send in an application with their full Camp fee. All boys must be registered in the Boy Scouts of America and bring a properly-completed BSA Annual Health & Medical form (Parts ABC).

Once arriving at Camp Sunday afternoon, the Scouts will be checked-in from 1-3pm and paired with their host Troop and campsite. Those wishing to be paired with another Troop from their own area before the camp week may contact the Council Camping Dept. after submitting their Provisional Camper application to enquire about Troops from their area attending camp the same week.

Contact the Camping Dept Admin @ (209) 566-7712 for more information.
