Wrap-up Weekend

Its time to close out the 2017 Summer Camp and prepare Camp John Mensinger for 2018.

Enjoy a family weekend in the mountains! There will be good food, fellowship, fun, and an evening campfire... and a little work.

If we do not get enough signups in a given weekend, we reserve the right to cancel.

Join us and help get a head start on 2018 with projects like:

  • Clean and pack tents and program equipment
  • Replace fences and clean campsites
  • Repair tent platforms - store them for winter

If you are planning to stay the whole weekend, you should bring your typical camping gear.

We'll supply the food, tools and construction supplies but  you're encouraged to bring your own tools - you'll need things like:

  • Surveyor's tape
  • Surveyor's stakes
  • Caulk gun
  • Paintbrushes
  • Posthole auger
  • Pointed Shovel
  • Pointed masonry trowel
  • RV extension-type wash brushes
  • 50 ft. Hose
  • Pump type sprayer
  • Router, eye protection and gloves
  • 18" Chain Saw, eye protection and gloves (Chainsaws can only be operated by the ranger.)
  • Battery powered Power Drill, charger, eyeprotection and gloves
  • 1/4 " drill bit
  • 1/4 " boring bit for countersinking lag screws
  • Bubble Level
  • Portable generator
  • Compressor and spray paint rig
  • Welder, gloves, glasses

If you'd like to donate construction materials, we have need for:

  • Spools of binder twine - hemp not polypropylene
  • Concrete aggregate for fence posts
  • Copper Naphthenate or equivlent
  • 2 yards 1" river rock (for drainage at bottom of post holes)
  • 3cs. Brown Silicone Caulk
  • 10 gal. Clear eggshell lacquer
  • (28) 8' x 4-6" dia. pressure treated fence post for accent post
  • (15) 10' x 4-6" dia. pressure treated fence post for crosspiece
  • (28) sets hook n' eye for Campsite signs
  • (100) 1/4" x6" lag screws and (100) 1" washers
  • Redwood 2x4x8' or 2x6x8's for Signage
  • Redwood 4x4x8" for signposts
