There are two different tracks that will be offered:
1. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills for Boy Scout Leaders
This training is to teach you the outdoor skills that a Boy Scout needs to achieve the rank of First Class. It also makes you comfortable teaching these skills to Boy Scouts, Team Members or Crew members so that they may participate in the BSA Outdoor Program.
Scoutmasters and Assistants as well as Varsity Coaches and Assistants must complete this training along with Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training or Varsity Vision to meet the “TRAINED” requirements for their positions.
Venturing Advisors and Associates, Troop, Team and Crew Committee Members, Interested Adults and Parents are also invited to attend this training to learn these skills.
2. Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders
Designed specifically for Webelos Den Leaders and their Assistants, the Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders course teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and hands-on practice. Webelos Den leaders should attend this training before conducting Webelos overnight camping with the boys and parents of the Den. In addition to covering basic camping skills, this training features planning campouts and finding resources. Other Cub Leaders are welcome to attend.
Note: most sessions will be together. There will be some separate sessions for each training that are program-specific
This training will take place on Thursday, March 10th AS WELL AS Friday - Saturday, March 18th - 19th. If for some reason you cannot attend one of the sessions you can make special arrangements with the training coordinator to make it up when the course is offered again in the Fall.
