Camp John Mensinger
Needs your Help!!!
Let us know if you can help provide any program supplies!
First, we would like to thank you for taking the time to consider the needs of today’s youth. We know that you receive many requests and we are grateful for any assistance you can give us to help deliver the promise of Scouting to youth not only locally, but nationally as we have scouts from all over, spend time at our wonderful camp nestled in the mountains above Beardsley Lake.
Scouting is a diverse classroom that you will not find confined by walls. The learning takes many forms and the subjects can rival the syllabi of most colleges. Here is a list of the many subjects Scouting teaches at your local camp:
Canoeing | Small Boat sailing | Kayaking | Rowing |
Motorboating | Swimming | Lifesaving | Electricity |
Plumbing | Painting | Leathercraft | Photography |
Vehicle Maintenance | Welding | Textiles | Wood Working |
Photography | Fingerprinting | Art | Wood Carving |
Indian Lore | Leathercraft | Reptile and Amphibian study | Forestry |
Energy | Weather | Astronomy | Environmental Science |
Soil and Water Conservation | Geology | Mammal Study | First Aid |
Cooking | Pioneering | Fire Safety | Wilderness Survival |
Search and Rescue | Rifle | Shot Gun | Archery |
Communications | Public Speaking | Citizen in the Nation | Citizen in the World |
Emergency Preparedness | Climbing | Chess | Leave no Trace |
These 48 subjects are only a fraction of the subjects that Scouting teaches through its comprehensive Merit Badge program. Our future aspiration is to increase the number of these subjects each year. For us to do that effectively, we need the appropriate program items that will help teach those subjects. Sometimes funding can help in these areas. Often companies and individuals can see an area that they are passionate about an area that we cover and can decide to sponsor or focus on that one area. Whatever the case, your assistance and generous gifts will help us to deliver the promise of Scouting. Attached to this letter is a list of the many things we need to make our program successful. Thank you in advance for the support you can give us. Please note that we are a nonprofit organization and any gift can be tax deductible. We advise you to consult your tax preparer in this matter. Thank you again for your support.
