UPDATES to the RATA Program!
In September 2024, some major updates occurred to the Range and Target Activities program. Some of the more notable changes are as follows:
-
All RATA activities must take place on either a nationally accredited property or approved commercial range, no private property allowed
-
No privately owned shooting or throwing equipment is allowed at council owned camp properties
-
No centerfire rifles allowed any longer. All rifles approved for use must be .22LR caliber bolt action (exception for Cowboy Action Shooting)
-
All Scouts BSA troops, Venturing Crews & Sea Scout Ships must have one adult take the Range Activity SAFEty online training course. That individual must be present at the range during the activity.
